. Peng Xinhua; Suter, Dieter; Du Jiangfeng 2007-10-15 Experimental determination of an unknown quantum state usually requires several incompatible measurements. However, it is also possible to determine the full quantum state from a single, repeated measurement. For this purpose, the quantum system whose state is to be determined is first coupled to a second quantum system (the 'assistant') in such a way that part of the information in the quantum state is transferred to the assistant.
The actual measurement is then performed on the enlarged system including the original system and the assistant. We discuss in detail the requirements of this procedure and experimentally implement it on amore » simple quantum system consisting of nuclear spins.« less.
ODI used its KMs with specific HFM drivers (HFMDriver.dll) provided by Oracle that were used to access and manipulate HFM applications. However, on HFM’s latest version, Oracle decided to remove its support for ODI, meaning that all HFM integrations would have to move from ODI to either manual iteration with HFM, usage of another integration tool (Like FDMEE) or create custom code using the new Java HFM API.
Horn, Laura; Radwin, David 2012-01-01 Essential to tracking student success at community colleges is the availability of solid data and commonly defined metrics that go beyond measuring the traditional (and limited) enrollment and graduation rates that these colleges report to the federal government. In particular, what is needed are metrics that illuminate what happens to students. Engman, E. T.; Jackson, T. These flights were made to provide 100 percent coverage of the basin at a 400 m resolution. In addition, three flight lines were flown at preselected areas to provide a sample of data at a higher resolution of 60 m. The low level flights provide considerably more information on soil moisture variability. The results are discussed in terms of reproducibility, spatial variability and temporal variability, and their implications for hydrologic modeling. Jellison, Jr., Gerald E.; Modine, Frank A. 1999-01-01 A two-modulator generalized ellipsometer (2-MGE) comprising two polarizer-photoelastic modulator (PEM) pairs, an optical light source, an optical detection system, and associated data processing and control electronics, where the PEMs are free-running.
The input light passes through the first polarizer-PEM pair, reflects off the sample surface or passes through the sample, passes through the second PEM-polarizer pair, and is detected. Each PEM is free running and operates at a different resonant frequency, e.g., 50 and 60 kHz. The resulting time-dependent waveform of the light intensity is a complicated function of time, and depends upon the exact operating frequency and phase of each PEM, the sample, and the azimuthal angles of the polarizer-PEM pairs, but can be resolved into a dc component and eight periodic components. In one embodiment, the waveform is analyzed using a new spectral analysis technique that is similar to Fourier analysis to determine eight sample Mueller matrix elements (normalized to the m.sub.00 Mueller matrix element). The other seven normalized elements of the general 4.times.4 Mueller matrix can be determined by changing the azimuthal angles of the PEM-polarizer pairs with respect to the plane of incidence.
Since this instrument can measure all elements of the sample Mueller matrix, it is much more powerful than standard ellipsometers. Aslan, Mecit; Saglam, Mustafa 2017-01-01 The aim of this research is to examine postgraduate theses on curriculum evaluation completed between the years 2006-2015 in Turkey in terms of various aspects such as university, year, curriculum which is evaluated, curriculum evaluation model, research method, design, sample type, data collection methods, data analysis technique. In order to. Davidson, Jeffrey Cody 2014-01-01 For the United States to maintain national and global economic stability, colleges must graduate more students. Four- year completion rates have declined and less than one-third of full-time, degree-seeking students graduate in 4 years. Some researchers and policymakers have suggested 'leading indicators' to track postsecondary.
Usumez, Aslihan; Usumez, Serdar; Orhan, Metin 2003-10-01 Complete dentures contribute significantly to the facial esthetics of edentulous patients. However, information as to the effect of complete dentures on the natural position of the head is limited. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the immediate and 30-day effect of wearing complete dentures on the dynamic natural head position measured during walking. The sample consisted of a volunteer group of 16 patients, 8 women and 8 men, who received new complete dentures. The ages of the subjects ranged from 45 to 64 years (mean=52 years).
Dynamic measurement of head posture was carried out by a specially constructed inclinometer device. Each subject in turn was fitted with the inclinometer system and instructed to walk in a relaxed manner for 5 minutes. The data, measured as degrees, were stored in a pocket data logger. This procedure was repeated before insertion of dentures (T1), immediately after insertion of dentures (T2), and 30 days after insertion of dentures (T3). Stored dynamic head posture data were transferred to computer for analysis.
The means of the measurements were statistically compared with Friedman and following Wilcoxon tests (alpha =.05). Twelve of 16 (75%) subjects showed an average of 4.6 degrees of cranial extension immediately after insertion of dentures. Six (37.5%) subjects showed an average of 6.4 degrees of cranial flexion, and 8 (50%) subjects showed an average of 5.2 degrees of cranial extension at T3 relative to the T1 measurement. Dynamic head posture measurements of the other 2 subjects remained unchanged.
There were significant differences between different measurements of dynamic head posture positions (PG (p. Pro72Arg) was found. Immunohistochemical stainings for IGF-2 and cytoplasmic β-catenin were positive.
Advanced ACC is an aggressive disease with poor prognosis and the current therapeutic options remain limited. These findings suggest that mitotane is a good option for the treatment of metastatic ACC and might result in rapid complete remission in selected patients.

Garland, Douglas E; Adkins, Rodney H; Stewart, Charles A 2008-01-01 Background/Objectives: Knowledge of spinal cord injury (SCI) bone changes has been derived primarily through cross-sectional studies, many of which are controvertible. Longitudinal studies are sparse, and long-term longitudinal chronic studies are unavailable. The objective of this study was to provide a clearer perception of chronic longitudinal bone variations in people with complete SCI. Methods: Bone status of 31 individuals with chronic, complete SCI was assessed twice using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry at an average interval of 5.06 ± 0.9 years.
Because the sample of women was small (4), the primary analyses of change and comparisons of those with paraplegia vs tetraplegia were confined to the male participants. Results: Spine Z-scores showed a significant increase (P 20).
Patients with fractures that were vertically displaced by more than 100% (one bone width) were significantly less satisfied than those with fractures vertically displaced at 100% (p = 0.04). Initial shortening of more than 15 mm was not associated with a worse outcome or nonunion. The odds ratio of developing a nonunion increased with age (p = 0.04). By treating completely displaced midshaft clavicle fractures conservatively with a sling and offering plate fixation for eventual painful nonunions, we found a 24% risk of a fair or poor clinical result with a DASH score over 20.
A vertical displacement of more than 100% between the main fragments on the initial radiograph was associated with an inferior clinical outcome in this study. Not Available 1994-06-01 The U.S.
Department of Energy, Nevada Operations Office (DOE/NV), Completion Report provides a summary of activities conducted at the Nevada Test Site (NTS) between October 1, 1992, and September 30, 1993, associated with Operation KLAXON. (In the past, each annual Completion Report dealt with a series of underground nuclear detonations; however, because no nuclear tests were conducted during FY 1993, this Report summarizes continuing nonnuclear and nuclear test readiness activities at the NTS sponsored by DOE/NV.) The report serves as a reference for those involved with the planning and execution of Operation KLAXON and also serves as a planning guidemore » for future operations. Information in the report covers the logistics and management of activities. Scientific information and data associated with NTS activities are presented in technical documents published by participating agencies.
In September 1992, Congress legislated a nine-month moratorium on the testing of nuclear weapons. The bill also provided for a resumption of testing (with no more than five tests per year, or a total of 15 during the next three years) in July 1993, and mandated an end to nuclear testing, entirely, by 1996. President Bush signed the bill into law in October 1992.« less.
